Spotify wrapped just happened & unfortunately, I have no podcasts on my lists. 🥲 I didn't expect there to be because the podcasts I subscribe to I tend to watch on YouTube on my TV in lieu of watching TV shows & movies. It feels like listening to conversations in public, like in cafes or the mall back in the day. So, I've decided to go through my favorite podcasts (alphabetically) & describe what I love about them. So read more of my perspective of each podcast & check out the ones you think you'd like. Tell me which are your favorites if you already know them.

Below is a list of my favorite songs of 2024 from Spotify. Do you like them?

A Little Bit A Lot podcast starts Kristen, a coloring book, anxiety girlie from Michigan. She uses daily life struggles to connect with her audience & talks through common stressors in a way that makes her audience feel significantly less alone. She adds her giggly humor, special guests, & vlogs from her life to tell short stories in a way that relieves some of the pressure from daily/weekly life. Watching her podcast is like video calling a friend when you're both neurospicy & will walk in/out of the room without being chastised. Her podcast topics range from mental health tips, Twilight nonsense, interworking of romantic relationships, & hot topics.

B4 The Bell is a wrestling podcast for the niggas by the niggas because niggas like alternative stuff too. I don't even watch wrestling & I'm not sure if I'm gonna start, but I love listening to the trio of comedians CT Thomas, Chris Burns, & (Unc) Martin M. Morrow. They gossip & joke about the previous weeks wrestling events, invite special guests to give insider perspectives, & discuss issues within the wrestling community & potential solutions. Martin also has a plethora of costumes & characters to surprise the boys each week live on the show, including face paint, a lot of thigh meat, & unidentified accents. They've built a strong, hilarious community who show up for them each week for the live stream Sundays on YouTube.

Black People Love Paramore hosted by Sequoia B. Holmes, formerly of Buzzfeed. In her podcast, she breaks down subjects that are a part of black culture that are often not overtly associated with black people. As a parent of 3 beige babies, it often reminds me of important aspects of how I raise my kids within a black household. If I ask my son for a ginger ale (Schweppes only), he sometimes asks me if I'm sick, assuming I have a headache or stomach ache. Black American diaspora is so varied as Sequoia explores her week's subject, which somehow still connects a large group of black people through shared or similar experiences. Every other week, Ms. Holmes validates the overall black American experience.

Confidently Insecure started with Kelsey Darragh & now features her bestie & comedian Zach Noe Towers. Yes, I've met them in person & not one of the three of us was wearing a bra. Free the nipple! Kelsey has multiple episodes dedicated to "Hoes Throughout History," featuring notable, yet forgotten women who were crucial to modern society's success. Kelsey is unapologetically a slut, a fighter of equal rights, a baddie, & a bread maker (yeast). Sarcastic icon Zach is the perfect opposite side to the same chaotic coin that is Darragh. Both sober besties, who find pleasure in redefining their personal goals & values, while encouraging others to do the same for themselves.

Guilty Pleasures is another Kelsey Darragh podcast, also starring comedian & TV writer, Garrick Bernard & Try Guy Zach Kornfeld. The trio got bored during the pandemic & decided to watch movies together & tell their audience what they really feel about some iconic cinema. All three have strong, varied backgrounds in comedy, tv/film, production, & writing, but that only adds a level of sensibility & authority in how they discuss Hollywood & other film industries as a collective. They grew up in different sections of the country & have varying perspectives & levels of nostalgia for the movies they review, including The Parent Trap, Cars, & Fast & Furious.

Perfect Person is the unhinged chaos of Miles Bonsignore of Try Guys fame. Last year, Miles told the Try Guys to eff off because he's the Prince of Perfect Person(s), only for them to crawl back kicking & screaming because they needed daddy long legs (Miles) back in front of the camera as an official Try Guy! He's the most chaotic person & uses his life's wisdom to shape the present & future of his audience, even calling them back to get updates. His guests have included Kelsey Darragh (my crush), all them Smosh people, Jay "thee stallion" Putnam, & Sarah Bonsignore, his unhinged, blonde bombshell of a wife, who admits to eating nuts off the bathroom floor. No, I will not explain! Watch her episodes.

Pink Popcast is hosted by gay icon Benji Jones & (Hot Honey) Josiah Rizzo (my crush). Both are Texas boys who grew up in religious households & moved to Los Angeles in search of chaos & mild debauchery. The duo became besties after working on a web series together & starting the Mean Girls inspired podcast. Benji is a sarcastic, Sailor Moon boy who only ever cries when movies/TV shows are both gay & sad, not either/or. Rizzo is an edgy, soft boy who cries the second there's a mom onscreen or briefly mentioned, rest in peace to Mama Rizzo. 🕊️ They also have a 2nd podcast channel for scary movies, which makes me very happy. I'm not a horror girlie, but I love watching others react to the horror films, some of which I've been convinced to watch over the years & I've liked, i.e. The Shining.

Sisters Who Watch is hosted by Dutch icons & sisters, Shelby & Laura Holland from New York, now living in California. If you wanna listen to pretty ladies talk about TV/film that everyone is obsessing over (whether good or bad), Shelby (my crush) & Laura fit perfectly. I've been pouring through their backlog of episodes after their collaboration with Black People Love Paramore podcast. They are bubbly, fun girlies with an intelligent perspective on why certain TV/film were successful (Love Island US) or unsuccessful (Joker 2: Folie e Deux), including how marketing chooses to connect the audience to the works.

TryPod has Zach Kornfeld, Miles Bonsignore, & (sexy) Keith Habersberger featuring Rainie Roll, producer & unhinged icon. Sometimes they eat 50 dumplings, drink half a gallon of milk, or read spicy fanfiction to their audience, but these lunatics always have a quirky fun time hanging out. Once they even left Keith at a coffee shop & drove away... in Keith's car mind you. Zach screamed when Keith tracked down his car with an app & found them within minutes, coffee in hand! Rainie also assigns them projects, like in-studio egg drops, (accidental) porn games, & PowerPoint parties.
