Prayer works

I found out recently that prayer works. One of my friends had such a challenging time moving from Europe to the states in the 90s. He would bring children's books home everyday from the library. He was working to help his Polish mother learn English enough to get a job in a new country. I think she started by cleaning houses & progressed to building a stable career stateside.

He was a really great kid to handle moving to a new place, with no money, access, or support. He followed the rules like I did when we were checking out books from the library, mostly goosebumps for me. But he showed me that books are magical because of what you can learn in such a short time. I've filled my life with books since then. Thankful for seeing someone for the first time & the beauty of a human heart.

Thank you, M. I prayed for your goals & wishes to solidify your family's future. But only because I knew you wouldn't give up. You were determined & persevered through other kids teasing you about your accent, or wondering why you were taking home so many toddler books well beneath our grade level. They didn't even know you to assume you were different, other, wrong. You were just steadfast in your truth & found friendship.
